Our final vacation for the summer was a trip to Gulf Shores with my family. We spent a week at the beach at a house named "Kokomo" with Marge and Big D, Laura Anne and Chris, and Rae and Robert. It was the perfect way to end our summer.
We ate lots of good food, spent lots of time in the sun, and enjoyed spending lots of time together.
Chance is a beach bum like his mama and enjoyed every waking moment playing in the sand or in the ocean.
We had a shrimp boil, went out to eat, celebrated Laura Anne's birthday, ate meals on the beach, hunted crabs, watched movies, played games, finished puzzles, and truly enjoyed every minute of our time at the beach.
Thanks Marge and Big D for a wonderful week at the beach!!
Our summer fun continued with a visit from Pops and CC. They came for a long weekend to celebrate John's birthday and watch some World Cup soccer. Pops even surprised us all with some t-shirts and flags to watch the game.
Just a few days later John and Chance surprised me with a cookie cake for my birthday. We then went to the Astros game that night. John and I both had great birthdays!
We had lots of fun at the pool, playing outside, and soaking up the summer sun.
In the middle of July, Chance went to his first summer camp. He went to Sunny Days camp at the church where he will be going to preschool in the fall. It was from Monday through Friday from 9-1. I was very anxious about him going. The first day I dropped him off he was a little hesitant when I walked him in, but ran in and played and didn't shed a tear! He had several neighborhood friends in his class which really helped. He had a great week and so did I! Our beach trip was the following week so I was able to run errands, pack, etc. while he was gone.
Chance did great and had so much fun!
We left the beach on Father's day, so John celebrated his day with a nice long drive! We actually gave him some father's day happies the weekend before and he was able to watch lots of World Cup soccer while at the beach so I think he was more than happy!
John dropped Chance and I off in Hattiesburg and he headed on to Texas to get back to work. We made a quick trip to Meridian with Laura Anne to see Big D and celebrate Father's Day with him. We had a fun afternoon at the lake then a shrimp/crawfish boil at the house that night prepared by Mommo and Jack.
Chance stayed in Meridian for a few days while Laura Anne, Rachel, Megan, Katie, and I drove to Hattiesburg for a girls trip. We all stayed at Laura Anne and Chris's house from Sunday-Wednesday. Our days were filled with pool time, margaritas, and lots of laughter. We met up with Amye at a Mexican restaurant on Monday night, and she came out to Laura Anne's for a cookout on Tuesday night. This was the first time we have all gotten together to just hang out in too long and we have decided it is going to be an annual thing! So thankful for these friendships.
Marge, Big D, and Chance came and picked up me and Laura Anne on Wednesday and we all drove to Katy. Thursday we all went to the Beach Club for some fun pool time and Friday we spent the day at the zoo.
We had such a fun visit with Marge, Big D, and Laura Anne!
Our first vacation of the summer was a trip to Orange Beach, Alabama with friends. We spent four days there with Brian, Melinda, and Ethan Stringer and his dad and step-mom Dennis and Kim. We stayed at the Caribe which was so nice and had awesome pools and a lazy river. It rained our first morning so we spent time in the indoor pool and hot tub. Late that afternoon after nap we went down to the beach for some playtime in the sand.
We stayed in that night, ordered pizza and played a few games. The next day we had beautiful weather so we went straight out to the beach and stayed until lunch time. After the boys napped we spent the rest of the day at the pool.
That night Dennis and Kim stayed in with the boys while Brian, Melinda, John, and I went to dinner. It was nice to have an adults night out!
Our trip came to an end too soon, but we had a wonderful beach vacation!
May brought warmer weather and lots of road trips.
I enjoyed a nice Mother's Day weekend here in Katy and was treated like a queen! We also hit a big milestone that week before...Chance is no longer in diapers! I was planning to tackle potty training in the end of the summer but Chance was ready so we just went with it. I honestly was dreading this but he did so much better than I was expecting!
Then began our own mini Dave Matthews tour. The first show we saw was in The Woodlands. We went early to hang out with friends, left all the kids with a babysitter and then enjoyed a fun night out and a great show!
Next, on Memorial Day weekend we drove through Meridian and stopped for a night to visit family and drop off Chance. We then headed to Birmingham for our next show. It was our first trip back to Bham in awhile so John and I enjoyed a tour of UAB, and a couple meals at our favorite spots. We tail-gated before the show and once again had an awesome evening! This was mine and John's 20th time to see Dave Matthews together!
The next day John and I were off to Atlanta for our final show of the year. We met up with more friends and had a great time together.
We stopped through Meridian on the way back to see family again then we left Chance there and John and I headed home for a week to ourselves. Chance had a blast and we did too! John and I enjoyed some nice dinners as well as painted 3 rooms and rearranged furniture, including getting rid of Chance's crib and making him a "big boy" room.
