Family Day

Each year Pediatric Transplant Center has a family celebration day for all organ recipients and their families.  This year marked the 6th family day and it was held at Kimball Farm.

It was a beautiful fall day at a great location.  There was a bouncy house, driving range, batting cages, bumper boats, arcade, pony rides... so much fun for everyone!  Chance enjoyed running around in the grass as well as playing in the gravel!  He is ALL BOY!

We had some delicious food hot off the grill and ended the day with some yummy homemade ice cream.  Chance even got to have a few bites!
This is such a wonderful day for families to see their doctors and nurses outside of the hospital, as well as to connect with other families of children who have had organ transplants.  They had a big turnout with over 300 people in attendance.

John, Chance, and I had a blast at the family day celebration.  And as we left, I said an extra prayer thanking God for my healthy baby.

One Year Ago...

It's hard to believe that this time one year ago, we were dancing the night away at Jennifer and Cale's reception!
The whole week leading up to the wedding was so much fun.  I loved being in Meridian and getting to spend time with Jennifer and get things ready.  Thursday was a busy day decorating the Little Theater.  Friday we did some last minute errands, took the dress to the church, and ended the night with the rehearsal and a fabulous dinner at Weidmann's.  Saturday we had a pajama brunch for the bridesmaids and family at Mommo's house then all went to get hair and makeup done.  Before we knew it everyone was at the church getting ready and taking pictures.  The ceremony was so sweet and then it was time to celebrate at the reception.  We ate, drank, danced, and had a blast!
Happy 1st anniversary Jenn and Cale!

NC with the Millsaps Crew

What do you get with 18 adults, 5 kids, and 1 beach house for a long weekend?? Lots of fun!!

In a moment of insanity, John and I decided that we would make the 14 hour trip in the car, rather than flying.  We felt like there was too much stuff to get on a plane.  So, we loaded up suitcases, travel high chair, pack-n-play, cooler, snacks, beach games, etc. and left the house a little before 7 on Wednesday night.  Thankfully our plan worked and Chance slept until we stopped for the night.  The next morning we were back on the road bright and early and got to Wrightsville Beach around 7 pm on Thursday.  Chance did good in the car....napped, entertained himself, snacked, and when he was restless we busted out the ipad for a little Mickey Mouse.

It was fun seeing all of John's college friends.  Their group has grown over the years and now in attendance were girlfriends, fiances, spouses, and for the first time....kids!  Chance was so excited to have an older friend there to play with him.

The weekend was so much fun.  Our house was at one time a duplex but it had been opened up so there were two good sized living rooms, two kitchens, and lots of bedrooms and bathrooms.  It was also right on the beach, which was great.  The weather was beautiful and we enjoyed spending both Friday and Saturday at the beach.  Nights were spent enjoying good food, drinks, and hang out time around the house.

Sunday morning came way too quickly.  We made the drive back in one day and it really wasn't bad.  We timed it where Chance slept a lot and we also made a couple extra stops to stretch our legs.  All the driving was more than worth it.  We had a great weekend catching up with good friends.  Can't wait until the next reunion trip!
