Marathon Monday

The third Monday in April is a state holiday in Massachusetts, known as Patriots Day.  There are war renactments, festivals, and most importantly the Boston Marathon.  So most people refer to this day as "Marathon Monday".
This year it was unseasonably warm.  Runners were encouraged to take it easy or even drop out if they were not prepared for such hot temperatures.  While it was less than ideal conditions for the runners, it was nice and sunny for the thousands of spectators that line the route from Hopkinton all the way to Copley Square in Boston.
We met up with some friends a few blocks down from our apartment.

It's so exciting watching all the runners go by.  People are cheering, holding signs, playing music, tailgating, etc.  Due to temps in the upper 80s, extra water stations were set along the route as well as cooling stations and water hoses.

Later, we strolled down to visit other friends where we watched from their apartment's roof deck.

We had such a fun day!  Chance said watching the marathon is hard work.....
